First Day of School #2 and 3

Malissa started her first day of school today. She was so excited! She loves her new teacher and loves the fact that her really good friend is in her class. I'm always so impressed how positive Malissa is.
I failed to blog about Luke's first day so I thought I would post about his day too. Luke loves his new school! He loves not wearing a uniform like Emma, and he loves the variety at his school. He is excited about his Japanese class and metals. Three different schools. Do you think I will be able to keep up? Wish me luck.

Happy Week!

Two fun activities this week! On Monday we went to the American Fork Canyon and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. We found a really nice private spot near a stream. The girls enjoyed playing in the water and dirt. It was a really enjoyable evening, one of our last summer activities.
On Thursday I took Malissa and Claire to the zoo. We got to the zoo pretty early because I knew it was going to be hot! The Hogle Zoo has a new dinosaur exhibit which is really neat. There are many different dinosaurs throughout the zoo. Malissa especially enjoyed the dinosaurs that sprayed water. We also went to a bird show and saw a really neat sea eagle. (the bird in the picture above). The highlight of the day was the train and carousel. What a great day!

First Day of School #1

Today was Emma's first day of 7th grade. Only the seventh graders went today. The eighth and ninth graders go tomorrow.  She was very excited to go to junior high. She was especially excited that she didn't have to wear a uniform. I took pictures of Emma and her two friends a few days before school started. It was a lot less stressful and embarrassing for the girls. Emma came home all excited! She said that she loves junior high and she loves her school!

Emma's room change

Emma mentioned to me that she wanted to change her room to purple. I did not want her to change her room again since we had just painted her room blue last year. Emma's Grandma Lytle heard that Emma wanted the change and told me that she had Emma's Aunt Lindsay's bedding that she had on her bed. (It just happened to be purple) Emma loved it! Next came the paint color. Emma picked out a sage green. (There is green in the bedding) It turned out pretty cute. We still need a few more details in the room but over all it turned out nice.

Emma's room last year.

A closer look at the bedding.

Black and White Wednesday

I know this is an old picture but I remember converting this picture to black and white because I loved the contrast. I especially love the memory!  (Luke and Claire in 2008)

Friday Favorites

A warm summer night watching the kids roasting marshmellows is one of my favorite activities in the summer. Our kids had a great time at their Grandparents house on Monday night. They jumped on the trampoline, had fun getting wet, played with their cousins, ate lots of smore's (as you can see from Malissa's picture), and enjoyed one of our last summer nights before school begins. Such a fun night!

Last minute trip

A typical Lytle summer would not be normal if we didn't go on a last minute trip. Last Sunday at 7:30 pm we decided that we were going to go to California. Josh had to work a few days down there so we thought that we should take the whole family. Basically we told the kids that they needed to bring a few days of clothes, a swimsuit and flipflops. It was the quickest packing I have ever done and very light. We only had one person leave their swim suit. We left at 9:00 pm and stayed over night in Las Vegas. Josh had to work every day but least it was at the beach or near family. We loved spending time with cousins at the beach, the pool and out to dinner. I didn't take very many pictures as you can see but the point was that we had fun on our last vacation before school begins in two weeks (Luke and Emma) and Malissa in three weeks. The summer went too fast!
